Help & Support: Becoming the Hands of Christ Together

Here at Blessed Sacrament, we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community, extending His love and compassion to our neighbors in need. Our outreach ministries are more than just services; they are powerful encounters where faith is put into action, and lives are transformed—both for those who receive and for those who give.

We invite you to be a part of this life-giving work.

The Food Pantry: Nourishing Bodies, Uplifting Spirits

WHAT: A community food pantry providing essential groceries.

WHEN: Every first and third Thursdays, 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM

WHERE: 3127 James St., Syracuse, NY 13206

More Than Just a Bag of Groceries

For a family facing hardship, a bag of groceries is a lifeline. It’s the relief of knowing there will be food on the table, the dignity of being able to provide for one's children, and a tangible sign that someone cares. This ministry is a direct answer to the Gospel call to "feed the hungry," providing not just physical nourishment but also spiritual comfort and hope.

A Ministry That Feeds the Soul

This is a ministry of transformation. For the person receiving help, it is an encounter with the unconditional charity of Christ. For our volunteers, it is a profound opportunity to see the face of Christ in those they serve. Working to stock shelves, pack bags, and offer a warm welcome, our volunteers discover that in feeding others, their own souls are deeply fed.

An Invitation to Get Involved

You can be a part of this beautiful exchange of grace.

  • To Receive Help: If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, please visit the pantry during the scheduled open hours. For additional information or questions, you may contact the Food Pantry by calling 315-437-3394 or by emailing Blessed Sacrament Rectory at bscoffice@bscstvsyr.org. The Food Pantry is located at 3127 James St., Syracuse, NY 13206.
  • To Volunteer: We are always in need of helping hands. To learn how you can serve, please contact Sue Colunio. Your time and compassion make all the difference.

Regular Hours of Operation

The Blessed Sacrament Food Pantry is open to serve the community on the first and third Thursday of each month. On these days, the pantry operates from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM. It is important to note that the doors will close promptly at 12:35 PM, so guests are strongly encouraged to arrive early to ensure they are able to enter and receive assistance before closing time.

Special Saturday Openings

The Food Pantry will be open (1) one Saturday a month in November and December. These Saturday dates and operating times will be announced as those months approach, providing additional opportunities for community members to access food support during the holiday season.

Eligibility and Proof of Residency

To utilize the services of the Blessed Sacrament Food Pantry, individuals must reside within the 13206 zip code. Every visit requires proof of residency. Acceptable proof is any piece of mail received within the last 10 days, excluding junk mail and driver’s licenses. Proof of address may also be obtained from your child’s school or doctor’s office.

If a guest arrives without proper proof of residency for themselves or their family, food will only be provided for those individuals for whom proof is presented. Each household is permitted to access the pantry only once per month. Strict adherence to these guidelines is required, and no exceptions will be made regarding residency in the 13206 zip code.

January dates are 8th and 22th
February dates are 5th and 19th
March dates are 5th and 19th
April dates are 2nd and 16th
May dates are 7th and 21th

Two Parishes, One Family

Though we cherish the unique histories and traditions of both St. Vincent de Paul and Blessed Sacrament, we are one family in Christ. This partnership allows us to pool our resources, share our talents, and create a more dynamic and faith-filled experience for all. By working together, we offer a richer spiritual life, more diverse ministries, and a stronger outreach to the wider Syracuse community. Our collaboration is a beautiful testament to Catholic unity, demonstrating how shared faith can build bridges and foster a deeper sense of belonging.
